Involute tester (PFS 600)

The testing of gear flanks for the needs of precision engineering and in general mechanical engineering and vehicle construction, requires reliable measuring equipment, since even small gear errors, can often cause significant running problems in the gear.

The PFS 600 testing device from Klingelnberg, which is of column design, allows the involute and tooth chamfer of a wheel to be tested in one operation, with the same clamping. A measuring tip is guided over the tooth flank by means of the motor drive of the measuring and workpiece slides. An electronic writing device records the tooth profile by means of paper writing.

The device is used at the KTM for measuring FZG gears. Particularly in the slow-running wear test and the DGMK micropitting short test, the change in tooth profile shape represents a decisive measured variable.
