The aging test according to “BAADER

The BAADER aging test is used to determine the aging resistance of lubricating, hydraulic and insulator oils.

At an oil temperature of 95°C or 110°C, a wire helix made of copper is moved translationally in the vertical direction in the oil. The copper coil serves here as a catalyst and thus accelerates aging. The usual test duration is 3 days or 140 h. The evaluation is carried out by determining the saponification number and by visual inspection (changes in the oil and the filament).

Parameter
Temperature range 20 to 220°C (standard 95°C or 110°C)
Test duration 72 h resp. 140 h
Hub 25 1/min.
Catalysts 300 mm copper wire (2 mm)
Oil quantity 60+/- 1ml
